LG Refrigerator GL 308VAA

We had an Allwyn refrigerator that served us well for more than two decades. It was a single door refrigerator with small freezer compartment that needed to be defrosted frequently.

Our family was small and we were not in the habit of freezing food. We did not have deal with leftovers. Fresh meat, fish and produce were available at the doorstep.

We live in the southern part of India, and in the 1950 and ‘60s life was not complicated. We moved to the north-east. Our circle of friends grew larger.

We began to have problems with leftover food because giving large parties became a way of life for us. We acquired a second refrigerator, this time from Videocon, because it was on a special offer and Allwyn was no longer making refrigerators.

We moved back to the south. By this time, I was getting into the habit of freezing food and so opted large capacity refrigerator with a separate freezer unit.

We are very happy with our new energy efficient LG refrigerator model GL 308VAA of 2008. It has a four star rating using only 465 units of power per year, ‘under optimal conditions’.

It is capable of adjusting to voltage fluctuations in power supply. Anyone living in India will experience large voltage fluctuations and all electrical gadgets are usually plugged in to a voltage stabilizer.

I have always had problems keeping cilantro and spring onions fresh for more than a day or two. But now, my LG refrigerator keeps these green leaves fresh for a week or more.

The only thing that I am not too happy about is that the ice trays are not all that they are touted to be. However, we do not use ice cubes all that much so it does not really matter.
