General Electric Hotpoint Model 18-20

My General Electric Hotpoint refrigerator is so good, it refuses to give out!! I have had it for 10 years and at one point the house was unoccupied during the week and it stayed on for when we came for the weekends.

Now mind you this is in Texas, in the summer, ON in an un-air-conditioned house! It is a General Electric Hotpoint Model 18-20(the kind with the top freezer) and it just keeps going.

I actually repainted it because I realized it was going to go on and on. Once I had a problem with it, it wouldn't kick on when it was supposed to so a friend of mine showed me the little twist screw thing to switch it on manually. But after doing that, it never happened again. I didn't get an extended service warranty so I'm doubly glad it has been so reliable.

I know appliances are supposed to last a long time, but I have to tell you, when I go to Sears or Lowe's I look at the newer models with envy, thinking bigger, shinier, etc., but this little guy just keeps going.

I keep the setting on the highest temperature level to save money and it is still sufficient to keep the freezer stuff well frozen.

When I chose this refrigerator I chose it for the glass shelves and the ability to put milk jugs on the door, but I remember the added bonus of easily being able to change which way the door opens, because the space for it was limited. So, overall, this GE refrigerator was one of my smarter purchases:)
