GE side by side refrigerator - Be sure that water lines on refrigerators are secure and attached!

We currently own a GE side by side refrigerator and have owned our current model for two years now. The refrigerator was included with the purchase of our house, so we had no choice in what brand we received. So far, we have been relatively happy with the refrigerator.

Our previous refrigerator was a Maytag Ice 2-o, and that was a far superior model. I prefer to have the freezer on the bottom as a pullout instead of side by side.

There are some things about the GE that I am not satisfied with. The ice maker gets clogged easily if you are not dispensing ice frequently. I would recommend turning off the ice if you rarely use it. Also of note is the display of the water/ ice dispenser. On the Ice 2-o, it displayed refrigerator and freezer temperatures.

On the GE, it does not show temperatures, but instead will display a number once you press the colder/ warmer buttons. We had a household mishap already with this refrigerator. The refrigerator was installed with a dented door. When we had a service technician out to replace the door, he pulled the water line for the ice maker loose.Later that night, it came totally loose when we were away and started leaking all over our hardwood floor. It damaged the basement control box for our security system and damaged the hardwood. Luckily, we were soon home and turned off the water and mopped up the spill. We had a repair bill and now have squeaky floor boards from the experience. Be sure that water lines on refrigerators are secure and attached.
