Allwyn refrigerator "Old is Gold"

I am the proud owner of a 165 liters Allwyn refrigerator purchased thirty years ago! We bought it just after our marriage for Rs 5000.

There was a 5 year guarantee on it. The company also gave us a free voltage stabilizer with the fridge. It is still in perfect working condition.

It is a single door model with the freezer compartment at the top, a chiller tray, three compartments and storage for bottles,eggs in the door.

It is indeed a sturdy machine. I had some minor problems with it after the guarantee period expired. We did not approach the company but had no difficulty in getting it repaired from a local refrigeration mechanic.

The total cost of the repairs was around 600 Rs. I could get replacement for the temperature controller knob and the bulb easily. I had to replace the original stand also.

However, the original vegetable basket at the bottom has now developed cracks and I am unable to get one of exactly the same size.

My family loves the milk shakes, ice creams and other cold drinks that I prepare in my fridge. The storage capacity is sufficient for our 5 member family.The company is no longer in the market now.

I wish that the refrigerator continues to work throughout my life! Friends often recommend fridge models with latest technology to me but I think I am so much attached to my fridge that I shall replace it only if it stops working and can not be repaired.
